LionVolt’s 3D architecture unlocks the energy potential of lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery cells and is compatible with solid-state technology.
What is it?
LionVolt is has developed a 3D electrode architecture which can be applied in next generation lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and solid-state battery cells.
This product significantly enhances the cell level energy density when inserted into a conventional battery cell and offers fast charging at compatible cycle life and duration. It is a low-risk solution meaning it can improve existing cell performance by being added to current cell formats.
How does it work?
Our unique and patented 3D anode structure leverages the benefits of a high surface area with thin layers of lithium-metal deposited. This means there is no first cycle loss in the capacity of the battery.
Working with existing scale suppliers of electrolyte to maximise the performance with lithium metal anodes, and as a component in helping to ensure optimal cycle life.
Where is it made?
We are in the final stages of commissioning our pilot line in the BIC in Eindhoven, where we will make the material for our prototype and ‘A’ cells. This is being put into our prototype and ‘A’ cells made at our cell manufacturing plant for internal testing and validation.
As we expand production, it will be made on standard industry reel to reel machines at Gigascale. The rolls of material can then be shipped to the cell manufacturing site for use in existing cell production.
